Go Youn Jung and Lee Byung Hun have officially been confirmed as the leads of the upcoming historical martial arts film Nambeol.
Production company Hive Media Corp announced that filming for the blockbuster will begin in the second half of 2026.
Set during the early Joseon Dynasty, Nambeol follows nine warriors from different backgrounds who embark on a dangerous mission to Tsushima Island to rescue Koreans who have been abducted by Japanese pirates.
Lee Byung Hun will play Im Eok, the skilled and strategic leader of the rescue team. Go Youn Jung takes on the role of Ae Ryeong, a strong-willed woman who joins the mission after losing her family in a pirate attack and sets out to save her kidnapped younger sibling.
The film is expected to begin production later this year.
