On June 18 KST, reality star and YouTuber Dex revealed a new video titled "Taking a Break from my 7-Year YouTube Journey."
In the video, Dex stated, "So in truth, well it doesn't sound right to say that this is the last video of this channel, but I've decided to take a break for a while. Everything has been decided and finalized internally." Explaining the situation to his colleagues Mimiminu and Kwon Sung Jun, Dex continued, "I'm not saying that I'm quitting for good, I'm just take a break. This video will be like a comma." It's been six years since Dex started his YouTube channel after his discharge. He said, "Of course, I'm sad to let this go. It's been really fun this year because we've had great chemistry as a team."
He added, "But there's a reason. Some of it is personal, and some of it has to do with my condition. All things considered, I thought it would be best to take a break from one thing if I want to show my best elsewhere. I know it can come across as sudden."
Regarding the length of his break, Dex commented, "This is the longest break that I've ever taken from YouTube, so there was some fear and uncertainty. But I can say for sure that I will not be back within the year."
He further shared his feelings about his decision, stating, "From a critical perspective, I felt like I was in an awkward situation in terms of my place in this industry. What am I good at?" He explained that he has explored many categories but does not excel at one specifically. He concluded, "It's about time that I started getting serious about one." When asked about a potential break from broader entertainment activities, Dex's side clarified, "In recent years, Dex has been busy juggling broad activities with acting. He was starting to feel that it was difficult to keep juggling multiple activities." They confirmed that Dex has started a new project and intends to focus on that project. However, he is not taking a break from the entertainment industry as a whole.
