2PM is a South Korean boy group under JYP Entertainment, debuting in September 2008. The group is credited with pioneering the "beastly idol" concept — emphasising physical strength, charisma, and powerful stage performances over the prettier "flower boy" image that had dominated the industry. 2PM remain active and hold a legacy status within JYP's history.
History
Debut and Jaebeom departure
2PM debuted as the second part of One Day, an experimental project by JYP that also included 2AM. Their debut was marked by viral success and an immediately distinctive image. Leader Jay Park (Jaebeom) departed in 2009 amid controversy, and the remaining six members continued, solidifying 2PM's identity with hit "Again & Again."
Peak commercial era and continued legacy
"Heartbeat," "Without You," and "My House" are among their most well-regarded releases. As members completed mandatory military service at different times, group activities paused periodically before resuming. All six members reunited for group activities in the early 2020s, releasing the album MUST in 2021.
