TWICE is a nine-member South Korean girl group under JYP Entertainment, formed through the reality show Sixteen and debuting in October 2015. The group became one of the most commercially successful K-pop girl groups of the third generation, achieving consistent domestic charting success before transitioning to an internationally focused era.

History

Formation and early dominance

TWICE formed through JYP's Sixteen survival show and debuted with "Like OOH-AHH." Their breakthrough came with "CHEER UP" (2016), which won Song of the Year at the Melon Music Awards, followed by a remarkable run of back-to-back domestic chart-toppers: "TT," "Knock Knock," "Signal," "Likey," and "What is Love?" The group set records for consecutive charting success rarely matched in the genre.

International pivot

From 2020 onward, TWICE increasingly targeted the international market. Their first English-language single "The Feels" charted in the US, and they performed on US late-night television. They became the first Korean girl group to sell out Tokyo Dome and were among the first to perform multiple sold-out shows at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
