Stray Kids is an eight-member South Korean boy group under JYP Entertainment, debuting in March 2018 following a JYP reality show of the same name. The group is distinguished by their 3RACHA production unit — Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han — who write and produce the majority of the group's material, giving Stray Kids an unusual degree of creative ownership for an idol group.
History
Reality show formation and debut
Stray Kids formed through a 2017 JYP survival show, with nine members initially debuting. Member Woojin later departed. The group's debut albums established a heavier, electronic-influenced sound compared to typical JYP releases, with lyrics frequently addressing youth anxiety and self-identity.
International breakthrough
Stray Kids built a massive global fanbase through relentless touring and strong digital presence. Their album MAXIDENT debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 in 2022, making them the third K-pop act to achieve this after BTS and BLACKPINK. "MIROH," "God's Menu," and "MANIAC" are among their most streamed tracks.
