TREASURE is a South Korean boy group under YG Entertainment, debuting in August 2020. The group was formed through the YG Treasure Box survival competition and became YG's first new boy group since iKON in 2015. Known for their energetic, upbeat output and strong Japanese market presence, TREASURE have maintained an active release schedule since debut.
History
Formation and debut
TREASURE originally debuted as a 12-member group, with two members departing early in the group's career. Their debut single "BOY" and the subsequent album series were released in rapid succession, reflecting YG's shift toward a more consistent release cadence. The group's cheerful, high-energy concept contrasted with YG's typically darker output.
Japan and international presence
TREASURE made significant inroads in Japan early in their career, charting on Oricon and building a dedicated Japanese fanbase. Songs including "HELLO," "MMM," and "JIKJIN" drove streaming and social media engagement across Asia and internationally.
